Happy first day of spring dear readers! While perusing Tory Daily recently, I came across the most wonderful post about Vogue’s Book of Etiquette and Good Manners and was of course elated! My two favorite things, Vogue and etiquette – does it get much better than that? As you know, my passion for polite protocol runs deep and finding a vintage book like this warms my heart. Published in 1969, this classic read promises a walk back in time, and features a charming mix of somewhat dated etiquette tips, as well as those that remain true today. As the ever elegant Tory Burch pens, “The book is a veritable time capsule, taking you back to an era when The Archies’ Sugar, Sugar topped the charts and ship launches were actual social events.” While some aspects of etiquette will go out of style and evolve with society (Instagram anyone?), I truly believe others – table manners, thank you notes, common courtesies – will always be in fashion and favor, and love that this book is still being talked about today. Cheers to the weekend and all shining as our best selves!
