Happy holidays! As you might have seen on my Instagram account, I recently had the pleasure of attending a holiday floral arranging class at Avant Garden with some girl friends. We had such a fabulous night celebrating this wonderful time of year and creating festive florals for our homes. As we encircled the magnificent “floral bar” at AG, we each chose our own flowers and color palates, and I loved seeing everyone’s visions come to life. One my favorite aspects of the AG classes is that every person’s arrangement is unique! Some chose traditional Christmas hues, while others opted for creamy pastels, and others used corals and blues.
I wanted to design something unexpected and whimsical, and so I opted for a rainbow of pinks, and then incorporated gold painted pears and green pine sprigs as a nod to the season. Pale pink hydrangea, peachy pink expression roses, fuchsia peonies, white hyacinth, and prickly thistle came together to create one of my favorite arrangements yet. As for the vase, I used a gorgeous forest green glass one. After the class, we displayed the arrangement on our library table atop of stack of coffee table books in our den, and it was the perfect finishing piece to our holiday decor.
If you’re hosting any family or friends for New Year’s next week or you’re in the mood to be a bit creative, I encourage you to think outside of the box with your florals. Yes, traditional colors are gorgeous and timeless, however sometimes it’s fun to do something extraordinary! And in case you don’t have any colored or metallic vases on hand, this, this, or this would be fun to add to your stash.
